New Texas Hill Country Cookbook Released

Every time I am involved with writing a cookbook I swear I will never do another one. This week I take it all back. The most recent project was so much fun and included so many great recipes contributed by an array of music celebrities and other famous people that I am already looking forward to doing another.

Mike Blakely’s Tex-Americana Fandango Cookbook was officially released Thursday, September 10, and may be the best cookbook ever to come out of the Texas Hill Country, a place known for top echelon cooks and some of the best food in America. And here’s why: The recipes included in this exciting collection come from some of the most creative people in the world, including singers, songwriters, musicians, artists, authors, poets, and many others involved with the Tex-Americana Fandango held each September in Luckenbach, Texas. The Fandango, a music and literary festival, is produced and hosted by award-winning author and songwriter Mike Blakely. Creative people contributing creative recipes make for some fine, fun, and exciting dining.

Here’s one of the best parts: These recipes are simple-to-follow and the meals are easy to prepare. They can make the most timid cook come across as a professional chef. Whether for entertaining at home or at a tailgate party, these recipes are guaranteed to please. Here you can find recipes for some killer appetizers, delicious salads, impressive entrees, some of the best sides in Texas, along with breads, desserts, and even drinks.

This cookbook contains a number of Texas favorites: Stuffed and bacon-wrapped jalapeños, beer-battered onion rings, avocado salad, line-chile chicken tacos, chicken-fired steak, barbecued brisket, blackberry cobbler, buttermilk pie, the best margarita recipe ever, and much more

For a short time the cookbooks are available at the release party price, a mere $15 (about the cost of a CD), if you order them from me.
Include $2.50 for postage and send an order for one or several to me at 208 West College, Llano, Texas 78643.

They make great gifts.
